FAST
FAST is the ultrasound stimulator made available for fracture treatment by IGEA, world's leading manufacturer in Clinical Biophysics.
It is a generator of Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasounds that enhances the osteogenetic repair processes by exploiting the properties of the mechanical stimuli, .
FAST acts rapidly, focusing precisely on the fracture site, enhancing the osteogenetic activity with a daily treatment of only 20 minutes.
The piezoelectric properties of the bone are well known, and it is known that bone is able to react and model when subjected to mechanical stresses. The ultrasound stimulator FAST acts by exploiting exactly these precise characteristics.
Like all other IGEA therapies, the effectiveness of FAST has been scientifically documented; in vivo and clinical studies and it have demonstrated that low intensity pulsed ultrasounds reduce the healing times of recent fractures by over 30%.
FAST has been used to enhance the healing of failed unions, also in the presence of infections, with 86% success rates.
It can be used in the presence of internal or external fixations.
